Fedor needs some actual competition so we can see how good he is. Rogers is a great stand up fight and got caught.

I agree with steer, it was close to fully in but Shields had just enough of his chin tucked to relieve a bit of the pressure. With more time it still would probably have ended the fight. He also didn't have his none chocking arm in too good of a position, basically a c-grip which is slower due to being harder to eliminate space.

Rogers is definitely heavy handed but is far too slow and was more gassed than Fedor who had a nearly broken nose the entire fight. Even in a rematch, Fedor's speed, power, and reflexes would send Rogers night-night for the second time in a row. Rogers just isn't on the same level, and all he has over Fedor is his size. He did a great job with the ground-and-pound, though, I'll give him that. Problem is, he was never close to hurting or dazing Fedor, so it was really nullified by the time the fight was over. I would love to see Fedor fight someone who is fast, strong, and actually has some cardio. Yes, I am referring to Lesnar. But we all know the likelihood of that fight happening.

i think rogers was intimidated and didnt show his hands enough
he let fedor get off first, which was a tragic mistake

if he lets his hands go, who knows

dude, fedor took some HUGE shots on the ground, so yes he had fedor in some trouble.

dont act like fedor came in and dominated, round 1 was super close. i scored it for fedor but not by much at all.

rogers was more game than you are making him out to be, he escaped two sub attempts from one of the best ground fighters in the game, give him his due.

Fedor's interviews are pretty interesting too......definitely marching to his own drummer.

I don't think I have ever cheered for a Russian. Nothing against Rogers. Tho. Biggin Fedor has looked human in alot of fights and seemed to be on the verge of defeat. That is what makes him such a bad ass. I agree with you on the shields thing. He had it sunk. Another 5 sec I think the fight would have been over. Miller is always game. Gotch thanks for putting in your picks. I was about to change mine on here to sokajou but dial up would have prevented me form changing before fight time. Valour, hop in and start making picks. I like how this one went we didn't do under cards in the pickum.

Re: We doing a Strikeforce pick 'em?

To get away from the silly arguing about Fedor/Rogers that I admittedly sparked, what did you guys think about the "EA Sports MMA" (360/PS3) footage they showed with Fedor versus Rogers? I thought it looked good, but I was hoping they would make more strides in the animation dept. because it looked very similar to UFC 2009 Undisputed. It looked like a very similar game to me, and I was really wanting to see a game that was taken in a different direction so that we could have EA and THQ's own unique MMA games, each suitable for two different types of players. (For example, one is more simulation-based, the other more arcade-ish/user friendly).

At this point I'm just making assumptions based on what we saw in the footage, but when it all comes down to it, another MMA game is never a bad thing and EA Sports almost always does a solid job with their titles.

So what do you guys think? How did it look to you compared to UFC 2009 Undisputed?

Re: We doing a Strikeforce pick 'em?

I still don't think with another 5 seconds that Miller would've ended the fight with that RNC. Sure, it could have happened... then again, Shield could've slid his chin down more. just because it looks like it's sunk in, and may look painful/right to the audience...doesn't mean it is.
Many of times in that hold, face gets blood red, like it was going to pop off like a zit, but have that little bit of chin and knowing how to handle yourself can take care of that.
Shields knew what he was doing, he wasn't in trouble... now if he decided to take a big deep breath in that hold, Miller would've probably sank that baby in.
